WebCatalog Desktop is powered by Photon, our custom browser engine built on top of Electron. Electron itself is based on Chromium, the open-source engine behind Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and many other browsers.
While Photon supports most modern web standards, some technologies are proprietary or resource-intensive to maintain. Large companies like Google and Microsoft have the resources to support these fully—but smaller teams like ours do not.
As a result, a few advanced features may not work as expected, including:
Password Autofill – Automatic login suggestions from stored credentials.
Push API – Required for background notifications from websites.
Widevine DRM – Needed for protected content on paid streaming services.
