Why do some websites not work correctly with WebCatalog Desktop?
Why do some websites not work correctly with WebCatalog Desktop?
Updated over a week ago

WebCatalog Desktop is powered by our custom browser engine, Photon, which is built on top of Electron. Electron itself is based on Chromium, the open-source engine behind Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and many other popular browsers.

However, some web technologies are proprietary and require extensive resources to maintain—resources that large companies like Google and Microsoft have but we don’t. As a result, while most web features are supported, certain functionalities are missing, including:

  • Password Autofill – Automatic login suggestions from stored credentials.

  • Push API – Required for apps to send background notifications.

  • Widevine DRM (on Windows) – Necessary for playing content on paid streaming services.
